Testimonials

“We can not recommend Studio 51 Photography enough! [...] They first took our engagement photos and I was so pleased with how diverse, elegant, and beautiful the photos turned out. I got to enjoy this amazing day with my husband and our loved ones without worrying about how the pictures were turning out because they are that good.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Our home base is in Carbondale, Illinois but often shoot in the St. Louis, Missouri area and are willing to travel across the state and country to work with new folks!

What kind of equipment do you use?

I use a variety of professional Canon and Nikon full frame cameras, lenses and external flashes to create unique, creative and timeless imagery. Is your event in a space which doesn't have the best lighting? That's okay -- we're experienced in off camera lighting to appropriately light your venue.

What is the best time for portraits?

We often recommend shooting an hour before sunset for outdoor portrait sessions in order to photograph in beautiful golden light. Shooting outdoors at times, such as high noon, create harsh shadows and squinting faces. We work with our clients to plan for the best lighting and location for their portrait experience.

Do you edit your photographs?

All of our images are edited for color, style and cropping. Custom designs include more intensive editing and design work. We do not release unedited photographs.

Can I get all the images from my session?

We do not provide unedited images from any of our client's sessions. We only provide an edited finished product to ensure quality and style.

What if I lose my images?

We can reproduce archived images but they will be subject to a $150 reproduction fee after the clients images are delivered. Client galleries are downloadable for 14 days after delivery then they are archived.

Do you shoot Quinceañeras, Debutants, Bah Mitzvahs, or Corporate Events?

We do! This falls under "event" photography and we would love to share your special day with you.

Can I extend the session on the day of?

We work with our clients to plan ahead on session times and shooters needed to capture said event. If the need would arise, additional coverage can be coordinated.

Do you shoot (LARGE / SMALL / INDIAN / JEWISH / CHRISTIAN / GAY / NON-RELIGIOUS) WEDDINGS?

Of course! It would be our pleasure to photograph your special day no matter you and your partner's culture, background or orientation.

Do you shoot destination weddings?

I love traveling and would be ecstatic to share and document your special day with you and your loved one no matter the location.

What if our ceremony is in another language?

That's perfectly okay! We are also fluent in Spanish and no matter the language, we approach events such as these with client communication and research into understanding the culture and traditions around the event to ensure we know of any major moments.

Will there be a second shooter?

A second shooter is always a possibility based on the event and availability.

Do I have to order prints through you?

I do not provide print releases to print at stores such as Walmart or Walgreens. There is the option to order prints which are professionally printed through Studio FiftyOne Photography or a print release can be purchased for a consumer subsidiary of our print labs (MPix, Nations Photo Lab, etc.)
